Yesterday I had the great good fortune to be allowed to be Grandpa for a part of the day. These handsome dudes live in Galveston and it’s a two hour drive. I don’t mind a 2 hour drive in the country but this is across Houston and down the gulf freeway. Every time I make the trip I am reminded that they are worth it. Galveston County had a rodeo. Living close to the worlds largest rodeo in Houston means it gets ignored a lot but I like what I saw.

Anyway I grabbed the excuse and went to the special day for schools. The boys sure enjoyed themselves and I did not see anyone who didn't. Some of the teachers seemed pretty busy but seemed to be enjoying themselves too.

Here we come. Veeery fast.
For the thrill seekers (and who isn’t) there were a bunch of rides. Some of them were free.

There we go. Just as fast.
Police were there and handed out honorary deputy badges. Our oldest Galveston grandson introduces himself to every policeman he sees and basically thanks them. This was not the first time I had seen him do that and, like always, the police seem to really appreciate the thanks. The kids were really impressed with the voluntary mounted police.

The car is older than their ages combined since it is from when I was a boy. I was only twelve when it came out and it seems to be holding up better than me. I don’t think any of the three cared how old the car was but they were impressed by the police that sponsor it. After we took this picture we signed the boys out of school and went for hamburgers.
