Flotsam and Jetsam
I have been hesitant to do this but the weather just drove me to it. Groton, CT, is one of the places my mind takes me when there is snow on the ground. After you take a look at the definition, I'll tell you why I used those terms.
According to Wikipdedia, this is what Flotsam and Jetsam means: In maritime law, flotsam, jetsam, lagan and derelict are specific kinds of shipwreck. The words have specific nautical meanings, with legal consequences in the law of admiralty and marine salvage:
Flotsam is just floating around. So are memories that are not recent. The current brings flotsam to you. Things that are external to you will normally bring memories back just like those currents. I am a member of a couple online communities that bring them back. Snow just brought them back and kept me inside at my computer as well.
Jetsam is purposely cast overboard or jettisoned. If you are normal I am told you are going to submerge some memories and hope they don't return. I have done my share.
Lagan can be reclaimed. I did some reading to reclaim mine. Hope they came back accurately.
Derelict: Well, what can I say.
I expect there will be a lot of Navy here. I have normally been hesitant to talk too much about myself but to make some of these things real I suppose I have to. Hope you don't mind.

- Flotsam is floating wreckage of a ship or its cargo.
- Jetsam is part of a ship, its equipment, or its cargo that is purposely cast overboard or jettisoned to lighten the load in time of distress and that sinks or is washed ashore.
- Lagan (also called ligan) is cargo that is lying on the bottom of the ocean, sometimes marked by a buoy, which can be reclaimed.
- Derelict is cargo that is also on the bottom of the ocean, but which no one has any hope of reclaiming.
