To be honest I almost called this leg of the trip, Al's trip.
This is where the family was living when Al was born in 1964. I'm pretty sure that he doesn't remember but Sally does. She wanted to make sure that we took pictures of the place.
Things change in almost 50 years so She didn't recognize the place at first.

The siding is a different color so you can understand that. People also just see things differently. Sally remembers the walk to where her clothes line was hung but not the tree. I'm pretty sure the tree is what I would remember best. Of course, Florida is full of trees but this one is pretty special.

If any reader wants to drop in to that house and tell them what an important part they played in our family's history, this is the map.
Sally had always told me that she lived just off the Intercoastal Waterway. That is the blue on the right side of the picture.
GG (Sally's mom) and her husband "Tiny" lived on Anastasia Island which is very close to this house. It's setting in this blue ink just across a bridge.

This boat is out in the water just about where you have to make your turnoff. I think it's grounded but maybe not. If anyone goes there and it's still on the sand dune, we will know.

She was always telling me about the gators and was pretty excited to see this one eating a truck. This is the first gator farm (in this country?).

Strangely enough we saw these two vehicles within just a few miles of the gator. I think this one was a little large to digest. This is actually a google image but it sure was close to the one we saw. Must party hard in Florida.

I think this car might have been too hot for a gator to digest. Couldn't have been more than a couple miles away. The tag was a vanity tag. Said liquid or some such thing. The photo doesn't give a good example of just how deep the paint on these appears in person (or in car). Once again a google image.

Is this 1776? Reminded me of the tall ships during the bicentennial. This is right off the bridge to Anastasia Island.

This ship's bell is at the lighthouse on the island.

This is a pretty good view of the lighthouse.

The most common sight for us was the mighty Cube limo setting among the trees.
Texas has some pretty trees but the swamps of Florida are just about all trees.

See what I mean? About pretty trees, that is. This was no swamp. In fact, adjacent to the lighthouse property was a school.

On a little more serious note was this monument to a Coast Guard flight crew.
There were a lot of pretty pictures but I am not the Saint Augustine tourist bureau and they have refused to pay my commission, so I don't think I'll post any more of them.
We did get something in Tallahassee. When they heard that we had stayed there coming over, they upgraded us to a suite at the same price. We stayed there and went on to Georgia the next morning.
