I know we sound like a couple kids with a new toy when we start talking about geocache. Can’t help it. We didn’t go out of our way to do any of this. I suppose if you saw the pictures you might not think that.
I wanted to take my bride to the lake the first time. Three days in the hospital deserves a short break. Didn’t know she was going to waylay me with a hidden agenda. Same thing happened today except I was taking her to breakfast following a hospital appointment.
We were returning home from St. Lukes when we stopped in Humble. When we finished eating she gave me that ‘you are such a mighty hunter” look and said. "You know we don’t have to go to the country to geocache." Looking at the map I think there is a cache within a block of here. It’s just right across the driveway.
Well what could I say. If I said no it would sound to the love of my life as though I was: lazy; afraid; or just didn’t think she was worth the effort.

She gave me the clues and it said we should reflect on where we might find it. The gps took us to a utility pole adjacent to the parking lot of the restaurant. The utility pole had a two screw reflector with the bottom screw missing so it swiveled. I swiveled it and there was a camouflage duct tape envelope in a little cavity.
Well she looked at me like I was just a mighty hunter so naturally I felt like one.
As usual she did all the paperwork. I just looked on. My job is to drive and walk. She is the administrator of our geocache team.
After that I thought I was going to get to go home. When we hit Splendora she said: “you know there’s another within a block of our house”. Now what could I do?

She was right, of course. This idyllic scene is about a block from our home. A crow or someone with a dirt bike knows it’s even closer.

I know I shouldn’t say this but there weren’t any real challenges involved in our cache 2 or 3. We didn’t even have to drive out of the way. Maybe I am a mighty hunter. Maybe not. It should be easy if it’s in your home territory and Humble was. This was even more so. This is a waterproof cache. First non-duct tape one.
Using her favorite desk again but there is something not quite so obvious. If you were to climb that fence across the street you would only need to proceed about 200 yards to be in our back yard. Maybe I should just hold off on that mighty hunter stuff till we have something a little more challenging.
